SUCCESS Alliance-Philippines Phase 1
The Project was implemented in the Philippines last October 2002 to September 2005 to address constraints to sustainable cocoa production and marketing in order to increase the competitiveness of the cocoa sector. Its mission is to improve the livelihoods of smallholder farmers by promoting cocoa production and marketing in a way that is economically, environmentally, socially and culturally sustainable. Funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), through the ACDI/VOCA, a US based NGO, the Cocoaphil served as the field implementer of the SUCCESS Project Phase 1 in the Philippines covering the Western Mindanao provinces, including Basilan, Palawan and the Cordillera Region.

The Philippine Cacao Industry Development Program was funded with Japanese grant through the National Agricultural and Fishery Council (NAFC). The Cocoaphil was tapped to implement this project from 1998 to 2002 to undertake training activities, advocacy and promotion, research and development of copping options for cacao, and technology demo farms.

Trade and Industry Exhibits – participated in annual trade fairs/ expositions such as: Philippine Food Expositions; Agrilink & Foodlink; World Food Expositions (Japan); trade missions (in South Korea and Japan); among others.
